One of the biggest dairy producers Arla Foods implements Aplicom hardware

Arla Foods has approximately 380 vehicles for its distribution of dairy products in Sweden. Transporting easily perishable products requires quick and reliable delivery as well as observing and maintaining a certain temperature for the cargo. Arla Foods decided to improve the efficiency of their vehicles and personnel and to guarantee the quality of their distribution. The solution was to implement a real-time GPS fleet management system.

Fleetech, a Swedish fleet management solution provider, was chosen to build the new system. Fleetech's solution FleetControl already included temperature measurement crucial to Arla, and the system lets both the driver and the back-office know about the changes in temperature. The new system also had to integrate with the transport planning system Arla is currently using.

On top of the temperature data Arla wanted to get collections of vehicle positions for route planning follow-up, and information of vehicle and driver performance. Possible savings not only in fuel, but also in vehicle service and repairs due to better driving and using of the vehicle add even more value to the new system.

Medizinischer Transportservice (MTS) finds A1 most suitable for their mixed fleet

The company Medizinischer Transportservice GmbH define themselves as an integrated part of the sales network of producers of medical devices and consequently focus on challenges of the "last mile". They wanted a telematics device that is suitable for their mixed fleet transporting medical equipment and chose Aplicom A1.

The fleet of MTS consists of 5 trucks and 31 transporters exclusively transporting valuable and sensible medical equipment and its joining tools in Germany. In the search for the suitable solution they had to take into account the different requirements for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinters and the different trucks they use. These requirements were fulfilled by Couplink Group AG, who developed a solution around the Aplicom A1 hardware. Different versions of telematics hardware can be used for different vehicles and usage scenarios.

WinCE device in Aplicom's product portfolio

Aplicom now offers a WinCE device especially designed for the vehicle environment. The device allows system providers to make software applications on a WinCE 5.0 computer and to use it for communication with the back-end solution. The device communicates with Aplicom A1 unit with direct serial port connection.

High processing power and 128 MB SDRAM allow smooth running of demanding applications. The large 7 inch display in 16:9 format with touch technology provides a robust casing ideal for commercial vehicle use.

Garmin and Aplicom entered into a partnership

Aplicom has entered into a partnership with Garmin, the global leader in satellite navigation. The partnership provides Aplicom customers with connected navigation products at cost-effective prices. Aplicom offers the Garmin navigators together with the cables connecting Garmin to A1 as part of its product portfolio.

The integration of A1 with the Garmin navigator enables improved workflow management and communication between the drivers and the back-office of the end-customer, as well as navigation possibility to the driver. This comprehensive package improves the efficiency of task management and trip planning, leading to improved customer service and cost savings.
