Improve your service with trailer tracking
Did you know that a remarkable profitability increase is possible for your customers by tracking their trailers? Are you aware that a service providing trailer tracking could increase the service incomes you get from your customers? All this is possible with the already installed A1's. All you need to do is add the new Aplicom offered RFID reader to the A1 and the tags to the trailers. This solution is extremely price competitive since by adding the RFID solution the customer does not need a separate solution and especially as the trailers are not tracked by a separate GSM/GPS-units but by the tags and the A1 in the tractor.

Aplicom's RFID products offer an easy and cost-efficient way of identifying and tracking trailers, containers, drivers as well as other assets. Active RFID technology allows small readers and no need of a separate antenna. Small size and low power consumption make these products ideal for various kinds of applications.

A1 functions even after a serious car crash
One of Aplicom A1's witnessed a car crash onsite when a taxi equipped with A1 collided with a truck. Although the taxi was badly wrecked, the A1 inside the vehicle functioned even after the crash and was able to inform the back-office of time and place of the accident. Luckily the driver, who was alone in the vehicle, remained practically unharmed.

The wrecked taxi was equipped with Aplicom A1 by STD Systems. They use the A1 units for efficient, taxi specific fleet management services, such as automatic shift reports, trip booking, as well as for providing online alcolock results.

To ensure help reaches the accident site as quickly as possible an accident alarm function is possible with A1 based on e.g. harsh braking. For example A1 could send an SMS with vehicle and/or driver ID and the location of the vehicle to a certain mobile phone number when harsh braking indicating an accident occurs. The same functionality could also be build based on GPS coordinates and several snapshots sent from same location.

SIM cards for cost efficient roaming in Europe
Aplicom offers its partners 5MB SIM cards with the best possible communication quality. The SIM cards are optimal for European wide roaming having a low communication fee. The amount of communication data is calculated in 1 KB steps per connection, providing cost-efficient communication while roaming and during connection breaks.

The price for the 5MB data includes roaming in the following countries: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, Turkey and UK. Roaming in other countries or with additional carriers is negotiable.

Global coverage with A1
MultiLocator Systems AB in Sweden have developed a separate unit called VSI (Versatile Satellite Interface) which extends the coverage of A1 to the limits of the sky and is very easy to deploy. The VSI connects between the A1 and the Quake Q9612 SBD Iridium modem.

The VSI is equipped with a powerful processor for custom projects where you can connect several external probes or use as outputs. The VSI is able to handle incoming communication from Iridium network and be transferred to the A1 unit. The VSI can be used in 12-48 VDC environments.

The VSI converts the A1 snapshot to Iridium ready messages. The VSI also takes care of network registration in Iridium network. This solution guarantees that wanted data is sent also in areas where GSM network is unreliable, or partly or completely missing.
A1's ecofriendly tour around the world

Aplicom A1 has travelled from Portugal to Tokio with Rainer Zietlow in a campaign promoting natural gas as an environmentally friendly subsitute to fuel and diesel. The goal is to travel the world's two longest roads with natural gas: the Amur Transcontinental and the Panamericana.

Mr Zietlow named the first adventure "EurAsia Marathon" and especially the Moscow-Novosibirsk (Siberia) length took its toll on people, machines and software. The durability of A1 has been tested yet in another difficult environment!

YellowFox, the German sponsor to the project, used the A1 with especially powerful GSM-GPS antenna, to provide realtime position information of Mr Zietlows whereabouts throughout the trip. YellowFox also offered a nice communication method to Mr Zietlow and his fans, sponsors and cooperation partners, through the Aplicom offered 7'' Windows CE-device. Messages written with the WinCE-device and delivered with A1 only took 3-5 seconds from Siberia to Dresden, so Mr Zietlows stories along the road were readable to his fans immediately.

A new adventure is already taking place as A1 and Mr Zietlow take on the Americas. The route leads through South-America to the USA and can be followed here.
