A major player in waste management relies on Aplicom A1
Alba - one of the largest waste management companies in Europe chose Aplicom A1 for their trucks. Aplicom's partner R.O.N.A. Systems equip Alba with a fleet management solution which includes A1 Trax and a barcode scanner or a RFID-hand reader to read the bins. The installations started in late 2009 and continue city by city first in Germany. The solution enhances Alba's operations and service level even further.

With a total of 200 locations in Germany and ten other European countries the ALBA Group is one of the leading environmental service companies and supplier of raw materials in Europe, with further activities in Asia and the USA.

Customer feedback survey results
Aplicom conducted a customer feedback survey in the first quarter of 2010. We thank all of you who took part! More people than in previous years, took the time to answer the web-based questionnaire and the feedback received was overall positive. Most of the participants were very pleased with the Aplicom products and happy with the service offered to them by Aplicom. However, we gained also some important information of how to improve our service and products to even better serve our customers' requirements.

A Suunto heart-rate monitor was drawn among all who answered and the lucky winner is Andrew Fleury from Transpoco in Ireland. The Suunto unit enables monitoring and improving personal sports activities to make them even more beneficial. We wish Andrew an active summer 2010!
New, rugged GPS/Glonass product A5 GLX
Aplicom is one of the first manufacturers to launch a vehicle telematics unit combining GPS and GLONASS positioning systems. A product, such as the launched A5 GLX, which uses both positioning systems, always has more satellites available to it than a device only connecting to either positioning system. Four or more satellites are needed to gain 3D location information, so the more satellites there are to connect to, the quicker and more reliable the connection is. Enabling positioning immediately in mission critical operations, A5 GLX supports also A-GNSS. This allows the first fix within seconds from the start-up.

The A5 GLX unit is designed for professional applications where driver information and vehicle data is utilized. The unit combines advanced GPS/GLONASS tracking with complete telematics functionality. It can be connected to FMS CAN to gain valuable vehicle data and is also compatible with Garmin navigators for fleet management. With A5 GLX driver identification tools are available as well as accurate mileage information. The provided voice call interface offers an effective and safe way of communication between the office and the driver.

A5 GLX has a rugged design suitable for even the most demanding and difficult environments. It is targeted especially for public safety solutions, value transportation services and military applications. The GPRS communication can be extended with CDMA, Iridium or long range Bluetooth networks to provide a redundant communication solution.
